Samba New York's repertoire includes many different kinds of samba, spanning the energetic songs and rhythms of Rio Carnaval, the informal party-style called "pagode," and the vigorous fusions of "samba-reggae" from Bahia. We also perform other styles of Brazilian music, including bossa nova, choro, and MPB (Brazilian Popular Music). The Samba New York! show is spirited, rhythmic, and celebratory – the ideal entertainment for any festive event.
Samba New York!'s professional performance company offers three basic options, which can be adapted according to budget and the specific event.
| A. | Samba New York! Band | From a full Carnaval samba show to a trio playing intimate Brazilian music, this option offers the most versatile performance. The basic lineup is percussion, guitar or cavaquinho (small Brazilian guitar), and a lead vocalist. Costumed dancers and capoeiristas (performers of "capoeira," the Afro-Brazilian martial art dance) can also be added. |
| B. | Bateria Show | This option features the solo Bateria (percussion ensemble), presenting the fascinating samba rhythms of Rio Carnaval. |
| C. | Bateria Show with Dancers | This option adds one or more costumed dancers or capoeiristas to the Bateria Show. |
